Center for Plant Conservation Annual Meeting - 2018

It's all about collaboration

It was "old home week" at the Center for Plant Conservation (CPC) annual meeting May 3-4 at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT), as many of the attendees use BG-BASE at their home institutions. BG-BASE was originally developed in conjunction with CPC from 1985 to 1991 as a conservation tool to track ex-situ collections of rare and endangered species. Of particular interest at the annual meeting was a data sharing workshop in which ideas were shared to make data more accessible across disparate data sets. The continued refinement of existing data standards is critical in order to make such goals more attainable. Thank you to both BRIT and CPC for facilitating these discussions, as well as to Fort Worth Botanical Garden for hosting the evening event - another long time BG-BASE user!
